Description: POSTER MEASURES 12.5" X 17". THERE IS AGE RELATED PAPER TONING AND SOME HANDLING CREASES. COLOR AND LITHOGRAPHY IS HIGH QUALITY. WHILE THIS POSTER IS CLEARLY NOT FROM 1855, IT IS AT LEAST 60 YEARS OLD. I HAVE SEEN NEWER PRINTS ON GLOSSIER PAPER WITH ADDITIONAL MARGINS AND PRINTER COPYRIGHT INFORMATION ON THE BOTTOM BUT THIS POSTER HAS NONE OF THAT. IF I WERE TO GUESS, AND IT IS A GUESS, I WOULD GUESS 1950'S. The reverse of the poster has age related discoloration and paper toning and some soiling and spotting. There are handling creases end edge bumps on the poster. Upper right corner has a crease but was never folded over completely. the lower right corner of the poster has a tiny corner bend The spotting on the rear appears visible in front only on the upper right corner, where that above referenced crease can also be seen in the right yellow light. (LAST PHOTO) Vintage reproduction. The more recent copies had an additional decorative margin around the poster. It reads: 1855 Philadelphia, Niagara and Western Route Direct Railroad Communication Between Philadelphia & Chicago By the Way Of The Philadelphia & Reading, Williamsport & Elmira, Great Western & Michigan Central Railroads Shortest and Quickest Route Between Buffalo, Niagara Falls, Detroit, Chicago, Cairo, St. Louis And All Important Points In The West and South In Connection With All Lines Running West From Chicago and South From Baltimore & Philadelphia The Great Distance Saved, The Beauty of the Scenery, Affording Views of the Falls of Niagara and the Suspension Bridge And the immense C oall and Iron Regions with many points of interest in Canada, New York and Pennsylvania render this Route more attractive then any other.
