VTG Jax Hancrafted Maple Jack-in-the-Box White Elephant 1985

Description: VTG Jax Hancrafted Maple Jack-in-the-Box White Elephant 1985. Charming collectible vintage handcrafted maple jack-in-the-box with a creamy white flannel elephant inside. Satin-lined ears, black beaded eyes. A tiny brass pince-nez with trailing black ribbons lends this fellow a cerebral expression. Stored smoke free. Remarkably good condition for a nearly 40 year-old piece. When originally purchased, artist recommended displaying this piece in the open, fully extended position to preserve the elephant’s shape. Therefore it has a few “age spots”. Artist wrote out his address and phone # on the bottom. Inexplicably, the lid is attached inside-out, meaning the screw on the lid cannot engage with the mechanism that holds it closed. There is no evidence that the lid was forced into this position.
