Description: Worden Wood Print of the WWII, U.S. Navy Sub Chaser PC-553, printed by the American Manufacturing Co of Brooklyn NY from 1943. The PC-553 was a PC-461 Class Submarine Chaser that was launched in May of 1942 and commissioned as the USS PC-553 in October of 1942 at the New York Navy Yard. PC-553 was a D-Day participant on 6 June 1944 and was positioned 4000 yards off of Easy Red Beach. PC-553 was decommissioned in July of 1947 and placed in the Atlantic reserve fleet until she was scrapped in July of 1958. The print shows some signs of staining but is in good shape for its age.
